As homes age, so do the systems that keep them safe and comfortable. Our Senior Home Safety Initiative is designed to help identify potential hazards before they become emergencies, giving homeowners and their families greater peace of mind.

This program is offered as a community service with no obligation to purchase additional services.

  • Choose one of the following inspection categories:

    HVAC Safety Inspection

    • Heating & cooling system visual inspection

    • Air filter evaluation

    • Thermostat operation

    • Ventilation assessment

    • Carbon monoxide concerns

    • General equipment condition

    Electrical & Fire Safety Inspection

    • Electrical panel inspection

    • Outlet & switch evaluation

    • Smoke detector recommendations

    • Carbon monoxide detector recommendations

    • Visible wiring concerns

    • Potential fire hazards

    Plumbing Safety Inspection

    • Water heater inspection

    • Visible leak detection

    • Fixture operation

    • Shut-off valve accessibility

    • Water pressure concerns

    • General plumbing safety review

  • Applicants must:

    • Be 55 years of age or older

    • Own and occupy the home

    • Live within our service area

    • Complete the application form

    Availability

    • One complimentary inspection is awarded each month for each inspection category.

    • Inspections are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Following your inspection, you'll receive:

    • A summary of our findings

    • Safety recommendations

    • Maintenance suggestions

    • Repair recommendations (if needed)

    There is no obligation to hire Ruffin & Goodspeed for any recommended repairs.
